About who needs care: Dad has dementia and each day brings a new adventure for us. He always knows who we are, but his short-term memory is missing about 80% of the time. He cannot spend any time alone; therefore, we are looking for someone to relief us during the week so we can also continue to have some normalcy in life. While I listed specific hours, we are flexible especially on the weekend hours of availability. About the care needs: Calm and patient are the most important characteristics of a care giver. Dad is aware that he is losing his memory and there are times he gets really sad and frustrated about that. The main job of the caregiver will be companionship. He is not active, so if he is not sitting at the table eating a meal, he is sitting on the couch watching a program. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
