About who needs care: My brother has a mental disability, but is quite high functioning for his IQ. He has diabetes and needs to take specific medications in the morning and the evening, as well as check and record his blood levels. He lives with my mother, who is a registered nurse, but she's 89 years old and it's getting difficult for her to manage his needs. She also has to drive him to work at Publix a few days a week. If we could get someone to take some of this off her hands, it would benefit them both. We really just want someone to help out to make sure he's taking the correct pills each morning and night and recording his blood readings properly. He can check his blood himself. We also would love a person who could drive him and pick him up from work and diner. About the care needs: They should be responsible, patient and kind, speak strong English and be a safe driver. He is very sweet and thrives on routine, so having one person would be ideal. He reads comics, likes to watch football and does word search puzzles a lot. Someone who will engage him in conversation would be great. He reads the paper every morning and likes to talk about what he's read. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
