About who needs care: Neuropathy/balance issues, but she can locomote fine in the home. She has a major fear of steps or curbs outside the home, but can do it with encouragement and patience. Mom has the beginnings of dementia. She's as sweet as can be and is definitely still there, but the symptoms are there. Traumatic events such as the passing of my dad on August 27 really accelerate the symptoms. She's very sad right now. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on August 25. She is very tied to the past and looks at albums and old artifacts from her life. She's also an amazing artist and, with my encouragement, is almost finished with her first piece of art in years. She's not incontinent, but she does get constipated once in a while. As long as she stays on her high fiber and drinks lots of liquid, she does pretty well. She doesn't like to exercise, but I can motivate her. She loves to be playful. I have moved in with mom. Someone who smiles a lot and is a generally happy person would be great.
