About who needs care: My mom (70s) is currently caring for my grandma (90s). I live out of state. My mom had a bad experience with a caregiver in the past, not showing up or changing the schedule a lot. My grandma currently has shingles and one spot is infected. I am insisting that my mom at least speak to someone about helping her out. They both have insurance (retired military). My grandma loves the outdoors and gardening, watching tennis, and feeling independent. As they both continue to get older, they will likely need more help, so this would hopefully be a long-term business relationship. About the care needs: An ideal caregiver would be very punctual, enjoy consistency in their schedule, kind and understanding. They do not need any specialty skills above basic nursing skills. They certainly don't need special interests, but my mom loves pickleball and my grandma loves tennis, so that might help build a connection. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
