About who needs care: I am guardian to my sister who is 61 years old. She has always been a highly verbal, quite independent woman with Down Syndrome. However, she now has dementia/Alzheimer's, so she has mood swings. Can be quite elated then grumpy and obstinate. About the care needs: Definitely need a person who understands Dementia - obsessive behavior, repeating herself, inability to communicate what she needs Services needed include: companionship, preparing meals, bathing (occasionally), dressing, toileting assistance. It would help if you are ok with dogs, as we have two. Schedule is flexible. We are looking for respite care 1 or 2 days or nights per week. Would like to create a schedule that is also beneficial for caregiver and develop a long-term relationship.
