My mother has come home from the hospital after a hip replacement. She's doing well, but she needs help getting ready in the morning. That includes getting out of bed, dressing, grooming, and the occasional sponge bath. She's learning to use a walker and needs some assistance getting up and sitting down. My dad is in his 80s, and he does errands, cooking, and some laundry. He has bad knees, and it's difficult for him to help mom with the physical aspect of her care. Mom is an artist and tends to be quiet and contemplative. However, she does have a great sense of humor and will treat anyone in her house like a guest. My dad is a former professor and research scientist. He's also quiet but likes to show people how things work or talk to them about his plants.
