About who needs care: My siblings and I have come to a realization our mom will need some assistance with some basic things. Like help with: - showering, - getting motivated doing her exercises on days she doesn't have her physical therapy appts. - cleaning her apartment: changing her bed pads and keeping that in decent shape, dishes (which requires a lot of standing that she's having a hard time doing lately), countertops, watering some plants (once a week), - maybe picking up a grocery order on the way to your visit of one of the days you'd come (this would probably be every other week). - honestly, the list is still being figured out and will get more refined. Right now, it's what we're thinking she'll definitely need help with. She has a mild short-term dementia going on.... just lots of forgetting what was talked about mid conversation, present happenings... so it's been difficult to depend on her to remember doing basic things, hit and miss basically. Reason it's not me, is because we're experiencing transportation issues & have our family with kiddos and responsivities on our end, so not able to come twice a week. About the care needs: Kind, compassionate, doesn't belittle, understands back pain & those dealing with degenerative arthritis (Has a hard time walking a lot, or standing long time). - able to help her with showering, but respects her ability to try and do it herself, but is there to be able help if needed for standing and not falling - help with errands maybe every other week - help keep her place tidy so it's pleasant to live in. (She's not a tidy person, but definitely appreciates when it is) - helper needs to be light and not so serious. And likes to crack a joke every now and then. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
