About who needs care: My mom was diagnosed with early-mild dementia. I have been her primary caretaker, but we are at the point where she needs someone with more experience and can help her with various needs. She is very creative! A former kindergarten teacher for 30 years, my mom also owned a store for 10 years. Mornings are her worst time of day. So, we would like someone who can come in around 10 a.m. and stay until 2 or 3 pm, 3x/week. She has a standing appointment with her therapist on Wednesday afternoons (2pm) - sometimes a friend takes her. She also has severe depression (especially in the mornings) and anxiety. She tends to "stew" over the little things for a long time. Ideally, my mom would like to exercise (she used to do yoga 5 days a week... she does chair yoga now a few days a week), go to coffee or lunch with friends, run errands... just live her life. But that has changed over the past year. I'm also looking for occasional respite care. Thank you! Laurie About the care needs: Someone who is bubbly and has a positive attitude but is also empathetic. My mom lights up when she is with friends and socializing. As I mentioned, my mom has always been creative, so a caretaker who is creative and can get my mom to think about anything but dementia, etc. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
