About who needs care: Elderly couple, father too old to care for his end of life ALS spouse who needs lift transfers into bathroom. They are worried about having live in care because they like to be alone together, but they live in an independent living with a back bedroom suite including a bathroom and a door where we would set up a baby monitor, and the caregivers can study or even sleep (as long as they do wake up for the monitor) and we need lift transfers and someone reliable to be there to help get her up, put her to bed, shower, do a few transfers to the bathroom each day. Some cooking (easy scrambled eggs or putting food in and out of oven, or going to the dining room to collect the prepared food from the independent living). The rest of the time they can study or read or watch tv. About the care needs: Very confident--someone with nursing care and an understanding of ALS... that her mind is intact but her body won't work. Just need some muscle and some sense of humor during a very sad situation. They need patience while she writes her needs onto a tablet. Much patience. Services needed include: mobility assistance.
