Friendly, Reliable Care Needed For My Father - Hillcrest

About who needs care: My dad worked as an architect and loves remodeling projects. He enjoys cooking and house plants. He likes to go to thrift shops. He loves to talk with people and always up for enjoying something. He has CSCC (cancer on his face) which he is currently receiving immunology for every 3 weeks and it is going very well. He had a stroke 9 months ago and uses a walker to walk but is getting stronger and stronger. He is motivated to do exercises/PT with the hope that he can get back to walking on his own. I can imagine he might like to draw together, get out to go to the park or some activity, not often but once in awhile, and cook/meal prep together. About the care needs: I think we may look for multiple carers...who can come regularly (every week), but not everyday...such that not every carer needs to have all these qualities/interests. My dad enjoys people who enjoy chatting, who are warm and friendly. People who see the good things in life, enjoy a laugh and can enjoy "simple things"....a yummy home cooked meal, relaxing with warm sunshine on the face, talking with people while out running errands... I would like to work with people who will actively stay in communication with me, his daughter, because I live abroad. Whoever would help him with meals should feel excited about healthy eating and curious about food and enjoy cooking plant-based meals and well as simple meat dishes. And also be up for including my dad in some of the cooking sometimes. My dad loves to BBQ on the deck! Are you into art for the sake of creating? Drawing to regain fine motor skills in his hand post-stroke? Taking care of plants /gardening together with my dad? ... might be nice to come 1-2x/week for a couple/few hours. Are you into exploring online music possibilities online with him? Helping him navigate videos to watch interesting shows? Are you into Tiny Houses, DIY remodeling projects, architectural design? These are topics my dad thinks about often Special skills? if you help with groceries -- patience and energy to shop at together My dad needs someone with a gentle, loving (non-shaming) approach to help him keep his spaces tidy and tidy what he doesn't manage. He is eager to help, but it does not come naturally and spaces will get very cluttered without an ongoing tidying up routine. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
