About who needs care: Has Type 2 diabetes, takes insulin, Osteoarthritis, Heart Disease, insomnia. No hobbies- would like her to develop some. She has a hard time sleeping through the night, sleeps a lot during the day. Would like her to get back on a regular sleep schedule. Typical day- Take medications. Eat 3 meals and healthy snacks, making sure she takes her insulin before each meal, some light physical activity and stretching. Help with house cleaning and laundry and cooking, possibly grocery shopping. About the care needs: Friendly and patient, makes her feel comfortable. Able to handle mood swings. Bilingual in Spanish would be a plus. She is fluent in English but also enjoys speaking Spanish. Knowledge of injecting insulin. Knowledge of exercises to help with her back pain. She has a hard time admitting she needs help, so she may be resistant to the idea of a caretaker. We are trying to help her open up to the idea that it would be good for her. My parents are still married and live together, but he works full-time and needs help taking care of her when he's not home. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
