About who needs care: My precious mother-in-law has Alzheimers and advanced dementia. She is German/Brazilian and her mother tongue is Portuguese. She is fluent in English, but when she is confused, will slip back into Portuguese. She has loved ironing, which is a funny thing, but really loves it. She sleeps a significant amount of each day, but the few hours she's awake, she likes to be around those she loves. We don't take her out too much, because we've noticed it often throws her off for a day or two afterwards. She is so sweet and so stubborn. She is separated from her husband because he fell at their home in Arkansas and is recovering in a treatment facility. This often is worrisome to her. About the care needs: Someone quieter, super ideal if they spoke Portuguese. No specialized skills really, except being patient and a good listener. Services needed include: companionship.
