About who needs care: Mixed Dementia with moderate cognitive impairment. Incontinence, Heart disease, high stroke risk, shortness of breath uses oxygen as needed. Still mobile but needs help with all ADL's. Almost complete short-term memory loss. Some long term memory loss. She's a retired art professor and is delightful. She is resilient, has a good attitude and likes to watch TV, read the paper, and pet her two sweet cats. I, her daughter, am her POA, care for her part time, and manage her caregiving team. She has a very structured day around meals and medications. Training session required. She thrives with a calm caregiver who is a great cook and gives her space but also attentive companionship. About the care needs: We are seeking a caregiver with a calm personality not overbearing and who speaks at a normal volume. Mom is not hard of hearing and is sensitive to loud voices and noises. Caregiver does not wear fragrances or use scented laundry detergent. Ideal Caregiver loves cats, loves to cook healthy meals, and do the grocery shopping. We need a calm companion during doctor visits and someone who is a proactive, creative problem solver who sees what needs to be done around the house and does it, working collaboratively with her daughter on household tasks. Caregiver needs to take regular blood pressure and oximeter readings, keep good daily care log notes, and work well with other caregivers for continuity of care. Mom likes to read, watch TV and talk about her past and the arts. She needs to move her body more often and resists that. She also resists bathing. A caregiver who is skilled at helping her walk around the house every hour and to the mail box as well as gently and successfully getting her in the shower twice a week. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
