My husband has dementia. In the morning, you would need to get him up, out of bed, and into the bathroom via the wheelchair. He would need to be washed up and dressed. A hospice bath person comes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so cleaning him up is usually simple. He would then be brought to the table to eat breakfast, either via a walker or wheelchair. After eating (he needs help), you would take him for a walk outside in the wheelchair. Depending on how he is feeling/doing, after his walk, you could try to get him to take a walk around the apartment complex with the walker. Otherwise, back to the apartment to go to the bathroom and get on the couch for a nap. His name is Tom. He is a very nice person but can be resistant to changes: i. e. getting out of bed, getting his coat on, moving from the couch to the wheelchair. We need someone who is strong and patient! Thank you. We need someone who is very patient and who is strong. Tom needs someone who will tell him what is going to happen next and someone who will talk to him in an encouraging way. I am not sure about public transportation to our apartment in Pasadena. We do not have any pets.
