Schedule: Monday to Friday & Weekends, OR ROTA - 7 days on/off or 14 days on/off (schedule can be flexible based on caretakers' agreed upon availability)
Location: Ojai Valley, California
Compensation: $35-45/hour + OT, medical insurance
About the Role
We are seeking TWO compassionate, reliable, outgoing, and highly organized individuals to serve as a full-time live-in caretaker for a vibrant 77-year-old residing in the beautiful Ojai Valley. While the client is highly independent, they require assistance with daily activities, errands, and maintaining an enriching and balanced lifestyle. This role focuses on ensuring the client's overall well-being by fostering social interactions, supporting physical activity, and maintaining a nutritious diet. Candidates MUST be comfortable with cooking on a daily basis, providing healthy options to the client. Ideal candidates will have a background in personal or executive assistance.
Responsibilities:
-Companionship
-Be a patient, present, and supportive companion while respecting the client's need for personal space.
Personal Assistance
-Drive the client to appointments, social engagements, and errands, including weekly trips to Los Angeles (the client does not drive, but the caretaker may use her car for all driving needs).
-Organize and manage the client's calendar to balance social, familial, and personal commitments.
-Handle errands such as grocery shopping, pharmacy visits, and other local needs.
-Cooking
-Prepare fresh, nutritious meals daily and ensure the fridge and pantry are always stocked.
-Check and replace expired items regularly.
-Focus on dinner preparation, with fresh breakfast and lunch made when possible or prepped for later.
-Household Management
-Oversee household staff (e.g., housekeeper, pool maintenance, etc.) as needed.
-Communicate maintenance or repair needs to the ranch manager and coordinate with vendors for services.
-Ensure the home is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
-Social Life Enrichment
-Facilitate regular visits with grandchildren and coordinate family-centered activities.
-Plan and organize social outings, engagements, and gatherings to support an active lifestyle.
-Health & Wellness Support
-Encourage and assist with physical activities like walks, fitness classes, or other preferred routines.
-Collaborate with healthcare providers to manage medical appointments and wellness check-ups.
-Oversee and track medication schedules to ensure compliance.
-Provide regular updates to the client's children about their health and well-being.
-Transportation
-Provide safe and reliable daily transportation, including weekly commutes between Ojai and Los Angeles.
-Qualifications
-Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
-Previous experience in personal care or assisted living settings (preferred).
-Strong cooking and meal preparation skills with a focus on nutrition.
-Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the client's privacy.
-First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
