Companion Care Needed For My Father In Oakland

About who needs care: They are type 2 diabetic senior with mild cognitive impairment. He is a bit shakey when moving from one place to another, has pain in his back that he takes tylenol for, is forgetful about day to day tasks, and has poor sleep quality due to vivid dreams from his dementia. He is being moved back home from a SNF and will be solo living in a condo, and will be attending CEI in downtown Oakland Monday-Friday from 11-3 p.m. in the afternoon. In the morning (M-F) a home health nurse will come to make sure he has taken his morning pills, insulin, and is moving to get his breakfast ready and himself so he can go to the center which would be until 3:30 p.m. he would either hang out at home or be picked up by a family member to visit with them. Then at about the same time as during the week he would eat dinner and then take his nighttime pills. The only change owuld be on Sundays sometimes he likes to go to Church and will have a friend take him there. His hobbies and interests are fishing(loves to talk about it and ideally would do it, but due to his physical limitations with his strength that he his trying to regain its not in the cards right now), watching tv or movies, listening to 80's music, and eating snacks/food that AREN'T diabetic friendly haha (Really have to stick to saying no). About the care needs: A good personality fit would be someone who would like to talk with him and hear his stories or even share then about themselves and likes to make jokes. Looking for someone who is caring, but doesn't give in to easy when he asks for things he shouldn't (mainly snacks/food that are bad for his diabetes) Would really just look for someone who is patient with him and is understanding of mood changes that can happen with dementia and other psychosocial aspects. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
