About who needs care: My background is as a nurse working at a local hospital. I have cancer and I am under palitive care (Not hospice). I am a very nice person and easy to work with as are my family who will be helping me as well. I have help from 2 brothers and my Mom. I wish to have someone present 24/7. Hired caregiving will be the primary source of the support. Right now, I have mobility issues where I have a goal of getting stronger. I use a walker which has a seat to preserve energy. I can generally shower myself with a shower chair. But maybe needing some help dressing the lower half of my body. Sometimes I am incontinent of urine and wear appropriate garments. I had surgery on February 14. The abdominal wound is largely healed. A small portion of the wound opened a couple of weeks ago and created a fistula which is an opening of the wound which drains into a colostomy bag. (This is not a colostomy though) I will need help with meal prep, nothing fancy is necessary. My family can do some meal prep and grocery shopping. My family will also pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy. I have pain which is well controlled by the prescriptions. I live in a condo with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. I will have a hospital bed in the living area. Supportive equipment I have is a shower chair, a sit down, stand up walker, regular walker, and a cane. About the care needs: The personality of my caregiver should be kind and nice. I like conversation and someone who is easy to get along with. l like a person who is somewhat organized. I love a good sense of humor. I like to watch TV to get my mind off of things. I have projects like trying to tame paperwork (it is a beast Im telling you!) Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
