About who needs care: He has dementia and wants to live his remaining years in his home. His spouse passed away in July 2022 after 42 years of marriage. He currently gets showers on Tuesday. Light housekeeping, meals and daily drives to Morro Rock to watch the tourists, wildlife and surfers. He has trouble saying what he wants to communicate - he does try and speaks in fragments. He works well with upbeat and positive but firm helpers. He's a picky eater because his taste for food has lessened and that can be a challenge sometimes. There is a private room for personal space, he is sleeping more now than before. Next June, he turns 91. He appreciates companionship and one-on-one chats, especially when he smokes outside. We're convinced that habit is keeping him alive now... My sister and I are involved and appreciate good communication with someone qualified, personable, and trustworthy to maintain healthy standards and care for dad's well-being with great personal integrity. He's had a 24/7 live-in caregiver and we're hoping to find someone that can split the days with that caregiver so he can have more time with his family.
