About who needs care: My husband has advanced Alzheimer's and is completely bedridden. Ken can still talk a little and still eats well. He cannot do anything for himself now. All the personal grooming that a normal person does for themselves, he needs it done for him. He has a catheter, brief changes are only for BM. The catheter bag normally needs to be drained, measured and logged a couple times each day. He is a rather big man, 6 feet 1 inch and weighs 209 pounds. Sometimes he uses swear words but really doesn't mean bad, just forgetting how to say No or leave me alone. There are times he will resist being rolled or moved. Ken needs to be offered drinks of water or other liquid every 15 to 20 minutes, when he is awake. Ken cooperates best with happy, kind and smiling people; he still enjoys laughing. About the care needs: Caring, compassionate, honest, skilled, happy and positive. Someone strong enough to reposition him in bed. Ideally someone who has lots of experience with Memory Care and some experience with Hospice would be an added bonus. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
