About who needs care: Our son is a 26-year-old male with intellectual disability, autism, and epilepsy. He enjoys blowing bubbles, going for walks, shopping for favorite items (bouncy balls, balloons), playing with putty, shooting baskets, playing in sand at the playground, kicking a soccer ball back and forth, and completing simple puzzles. He has not had a grand mal seizure in over a year but has absent seizures that create a fall risk so someone needs to be close at hand for safety. About the care needs: Personality - someone who is attentive yet patient and waits for answers to questions to give him time to mentally process language. Specialized skills - patience and someone who will foster greater use of language rather than just doing things for him. Hobbies/interests - someone who is agile and mobile; able to go for walks on paved surfaces and go to the beach on occasion. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
