My 96-year-old mother recently enrolled into at-home Hospice Care. She is currently confined to her bed, wears diapers, is in varying levels of pain, and is unable to feed herself or move her body much by herself. Mom is still very aware of what is going on and can speak coherently, however, so a caregiver must be sensitive to her needs and include her in decisions about what food she feels like eating, etc. Medication management is required. We would prefer someone who can handle light housekeeping. Experience in using draw sheets to gently move a patient is required, along with experience with patients wearing diapers. Please have experience assisting with feeding. Additional responsibilities include light meal preparation. Her mouth is constantly very dry, so ice chips and cold water and drinks are requested frequently.
