About who needs care: My mother is 67 years old. Three years ago our lives changed when she was diagnosed with an autonomic nervous system disorder called dysautonomia. When she has flare-ups, she is nauseous and vomiting frequently, and has issues with mobility. She has had several injuries from falling. My dad still works in the mornings and afternoons during the week. These are the hours we need someone to be with my mom in case she has an emergency. My mom does not leave the house. She spends her time reading, watching TV, and playing backgammon. Often she wont eat because she doesn't feel well, or cant put something together for herself. About the care needs: My mother has such a small life inside their house. I would love to find someone who is bright and cheery who can inspire some positivity in her. She feels very down and depressed with her current health status. She does like to be left alone at times though. She does not want to feel like she's being babysat or watched. So someone who can engage with her from time to time, but also leave her be at other times. She might need assistance getting up to go to the restroom during flare-ups. We would love to find someone who could help with some light cooking, who makes sure she gets enough nutrition, and takes her vitamins and pills. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
