About who needs care: My Grandfather is overall pretty healthy for his age. He is a retired Engineer and Builder. Only current medical issue is severe hearing loss. He wears hearing aids, only when he wants, but they don't help a whole lot these days. He has typically memory loss as he ages. He loves spending time with family, animals, watching sports on TV, being outdoors and building things (wood, metal, etc.). He currently lives alone with no family nearby. He has agreed to move to Auburn near lots of family and is excited to have more family time. Currently I believe he spends most his day in his chair watching TV. It would be great to encourage more activity in his day and having family around will also help that. About the care needs: I'm unsure exactly what we are looking for. My Grandfather is very independent and is relatively self sufficient. He does leave the stove on a times and can be forgetful. So really just someone to check in on him, help him lightly house keep, prepare or plan food that he wants, remind him of appointments upcoming, etc. He will have family around frequently to help so it won't be anything too intense. It needs to be someone that is very patient and compassionate with hearing loss as his is severe. Other than that, he is a very quiet person. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
