About who needs care: I am 85 years old and live alone. I am not a Social "Butterfly!" I stay home a lot. I am generally in good health. But I have had a couple of A-Fib occurrences and Aortic Valve replacement. I am mainly concerned about personal security at home at night, and being able to summon help should one of these attacks occur again. I do go out to eat frequently, and to the movies a couple of times a week in the evenings with friends. I was a Physical Education Teacher and Basketball Coach, and when I can manage to do so, I enjoy watching the UofA Women's BB Team, either on TV or going to their games. I was a US Park Ranger and enjoy visiting local Parks and going for short hikes and drives around the local NPs. I would like to have a companion who enjoyed similar activities. I would enjoy getting out more! I have two adult neutered male cats and enjoy their company at home in the evening. Currently no dog. About the care needs: I am a good conversationalist, but I like Quiet, too. I am not "Chatty Kathy!" I read and watch TV a lot, even when I have company in the house. I am a really poor Cook! Lots of TV Dinners! I have two older, neutered, male cats that stay in the house because the neighborhood dogs do not stay in their yards! I feel I do Okay during the day, because I have friends that live not too far from my house that I can call on for assistance and rides to Doctor visits; but they are almost as old as I am (85+) and cannot respond in a hurry in an emergency! Or at night! I still drive...I am 86 years old, so I don't drive very much, but I still do have a vehicle and can get to the Corner store occasionally. With my age and existing Heart Problem possibilities, I would like someone who could stay nights... just in case...and would usually be mostly free to attend to their other obligations during the day, Unless my Aortic Valve does its thing again; then I would need round-the-clock care for a period of time! Duties would be mostly companionship, being available if I needed assistance, and maybe driving to Dr Appts and grocery shopping. I do okay during the day, but don't have anyone close if I were to need assistance at night. I don't have a large house...it is just a modular mobile...but it does have two bedrooms and two bathrooms...plus the usual Living Room, Kitchen, Laundry Room, and Office. Covered Decks at both Front and Rear doors. It is located in a quiet Senior citizen Mobile home area with a big Fenced Yard. Large, off-street parking area in front, but only a single driveway and carport. Services needed include: companionship.
