About the job
About who needs care: Diabetic female (former nurse) who's memory is failing. Needs someone to make sure she eats, drinks enough water, takes meds accurately, and monitors blood sugar. She likes food shows, true crime shows, Law and order, reads romance and crime novels. Ideal day: She gets up around 6-7. Makes her coffee. Eats breakfast between 8 and 9. Takes her meds and insulin post meal, watches TV or reads, naps, eats lunch between 12 and 2, takes insulin post meal if needed, watches TV or reads, eats dinner around 6-7, takes insulin post meal, takes bedtime meds around 8. Caregiver would only need to be there most days until 6. My husband and daughter come home around then and can monitor her. She is lucid most days but some days very forgetful. About the care needs: Someone who enjoys cooking shows and reading. Someone who enjoys talking ( she is a talker and would annoy a shy person). Someone needs to be able to assist her with taking her meds such as dialing the units on her insulin pens, recognizing low sugars and symptoms of stroke as well as low BP. Cannot be allergic to or are afraid of cats or dogs. We have both in the house. Need to have a valid driver's license (she likes to go out to eat lunch sometimes). Would be great if person was a retired LPN or RN. Needs to be female. It would be too awkward for her to have a male caregiver.
