Max is very protective at home, but when we take him to the vet and to get groomed he is fine. He is very anxious during thunder storms he needs an anxiety pill yet he still shakes so bad. At home he does not let in strangers or even family members, he does not like men. Well he does like my nephews though. We would definitely need a meet and greet at your home to see how he does. Its so odd how protective at home he is and then at the vet and groomer it's like he's as different dog, but we are still very protective, cautious with him. But he is very loveable too.
