We would ask them to spend the night. Our dogs sleep in a kennel, but need to go in around 10 p.m. and let out between 5&7 a.m. Giving them attention, petting etc is encouraged but not neccessary every day. Our cats need minimum care (food, water, emptying the litterbox)
