A family on the Upper East Side is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented part-time housekeeper for a long-term position. This is a live-out role, ideal for someone organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a home with children and other staff members, and coordinating with the family assistant and nanny as needed.
Position Details
Location: Upper East Side, Manhattan
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1 PM-7 PM, 30 Hours per week.
Compensation: $33-35/hour gross.
Start Date: Flexible
Responsibilities
General cleaning and organization of a 3-bedroom apartment and occasionally cleaning an adjacent (not renovated) prewar unit (1 bedroom) occasionally.
Laundry, ironing linens, and managing fine linen care (sending items out for dry cleaning as needed).
Dusting fine artwork, glassware, and crystal, polishing a silver tray twice a year.
Unpacking groceries and maintaining a clean, tidy kitchen.
Basic dinner preparation for two children (ages 8 and 9), such as grilled cheese, pasta, or steamed vegetables.
Occasionally assisting with school drop-offs or pick-ups if needed (though the family has a full-time nanny). This would only be needed if for some reason the nanny or mom can't do pick-ups or drop-offs.
Maintaining an organized household and assisting with simple errands.
Candidate Requirements
Experience as a housekeeper in a family home, preferably on the Upper East Side.
Detail-oriented with excellent cleaning and organizational skills.
Comfortable working in a home with children and able to assist with occasional childcare tasks.
Proactive
Ability to prepare basic meals for children.
Fluent in English, Spanish is a plus but not required.
Comfortable collaborating with other household staff. Team work is required.
Able to reliably commute to the UES and local to NYC.
Able to let maintenance workers in/out of the apartment as needed.
Additional Information
Travel: No travel required, though the family spends August in Montauk, the housekeeper will continue working in NYC during that time.
Pets: None (family member has allergies).
