A single father in northwest Austin is seeking a daytime Family Assistant for his adorable 4.5-year-old son. The position will support their current live-in Nanny, who will be handling early mornings, evenings and weekends. The current Nanny speaks Mandarin exclusively, and the child is bilingual, so a bilingual English/Mandarin candidate (extremely fluent in both languages) is required. In an effort to create a nurturing and consistent environment, Father likes a good degree of structure and routine for the child.

Compensation: $35-40/hr
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am-4:00pm or 10:00am-7:00pm
Duties include:
Reading and literacy activities with the child to enhance comprehension, lots of story-telling and story book time
Keeping the common areas and child's areas tidy including load/unload dishwasher, wiping down counters, cleaning up after meals, putting toys away, doing child's laundry, and picking up and organizing his bedroom and bathroom
Assist with communication and coordination of family schedule, proficient in Google calendar, highly organized and able to coordinate seamlessly with all required individuals/entities, experienced in making appointments online and over the phone, experience in submitting expense reports, other administrative tasks as assigned
Back-up Live-in Nanny as needed:
Morning routine including getting child ready for school, preparing his meals, etc.
Engaging the child in indoor and outdoor, educational age-appropriate activities such as books, music, walks, play, toys, activities, arts and crafts, off-site activities (e.g., park, library, museums), etc.
Bedtime routine including brush teeth, bathe, pajamas, bedtime story, etc.
Occasionally transport the child to/from school, activities, and appointments (excellent driving record required, Nanny car available), the family has a driver as well
The daytime Family Assistant will work well with the live-in Nanny, with seamless transitions, and a collaborative approach.
Candidate will be:
Flexible and adaptable with the duties and schedule to help out as needed including occasional overnights and/or weekends when Dad travels or other Nanny is unavailable
Practiced at following routines and schedules and extremely organized with calendar management, tech-savvy
Experienced, confident, and capable with preschool and school-age children
Kind, nurturing, and patient
Trustworthy and reliable
Active, energetic, and outdoorsy - hands-on engagement with the child
A team player who will work hand-in-hand with a second nanny, and report to the Chief of staff
Discreet, respecting the family's confidentiality and privacy (NDA will be required)
Available for extensive domestic and international travel (especially in the summer) with the family (must have a valid passport)
Required: Bilingual English/Mandarin fluency - need to be able to communicate in English with the father and outside entities (doctors, schools, etc) with ease
Desired but not required: some Italian or Spanish
The family is open to relocating the right candidate, and temporary housing is an option.
Father works full-time and has a very demanding role with frequent travel.
