This position is most importantly to cover the mornings where the parents' sleep schedules sometimes vary. One parent would leave for work and the caregiver would hold down the fort until the other parent wakes up, handling the children as they gradually wake up and start their days too. Then once the children are awake, providing food and drinks as needed, ensuring their physical safety and well being are cared for to the highest standard. Reading to them, playing games, interacting in some way, watching them while they do these things is important. We do not do screen time and would not want the caregiver to be on the phone either. Caregiver must be punctual and reliable. Parent has a job where they have to leave at a precise time. This is a position at our house but may develop into going on adventures with the family.
