Location: Arlington, VA, 22201 Children: 9-year-old Compensation: $30-$35/hr Schedule: 30 guaranteed hrs/week, Monday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm with occasional Sundays Description: A family in Arlington, VA is seeking a responsible and skilled household manager/nanny to help care for their home and 9-year-old daughter. Their 9-year-old daughter is a delightful child with a keen awareness of her surroundings. Initially, she can be shy in new situations, though once she warms up, she's a chatterbox! She's a stickler for doing things right and is super observant-attuned to tones and intentions. She has a passion for arts and crafts, happily spending hours creating. She has been playing piano for five years, although practicing isn't her favorite activity. Recently, she has also embraced synchronized swimming and horseback riding. Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous for their daughter's bilingual school program but not mandatory. Mom & Dad are analytical and driven to achieve. With high expectations, they value intelligence, hard work, and fulfilling responsibilities. They gravitate towards individuals who balance hard work with a sense of fun, emphasizing emotional intelligence and empathy in decision-making. Being goal-oriented is a cornerstone of their approach to parenting and life. As parents, their primary focus is on nurturing their daughter's development towards independence and ensuring she grows into an independent and compassionate individual prepared to contribute positively to society. As a family they love exploration, constantly jetting off to new places. Trying new cuisines is a big hit for them, and they are avid readers who also enjoy unwinding with TV and movies on weekends. Staying active through exercise is another key part of their lifestyle. They enjoy a fun-filled family summer vacation in Europe and a 2-week international trip in late December/early January and seek a nanny willing to join them for portions of these adventures. Additionally, due to frequent work-related travel, willingness for overnights about 3-4 times per year is essential. They are in search of a responsible candidate adept at guiding their daughter through all aspects of life, from cultivating essential life skills to supporting her academic progress. The ideal applicant should be highly disciplined and proficient, consistently delivering exceptional performance. Flexibility and an understanding of their variable work schedules are essential. Intelligence, coupled with equal proficiency in managing household affairs and childcare, is crucial. While childcare remains a primary responsibility, they also prioritize a capable household manager who efficiently oversees all household operations. They value candidates with a proactive "see a need, fill a need" mindset, willing to assist with all household management-related tasks and reflecting a hands-on, detail-oriented approach similar to their own. This position requires a combination of managerial and domestic skills to ensure the smooth functioning of the household and the well-being of the family. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in maintaining household inventories, grocery shopping, menu planning, meal prep, and cooking (the family follows a lacto-octo vegetarian diet, so being comfortable with planning, prepping, and cooking meals that align with this dietary preference is essential) maintaining household schedules and vendors, laundry, light housekeeping, managing appointments, events, and activities, and other relevant household tasks. You will also be responsible for childcare duties including meal preparation, child-related transportation, and homework help. Qualifications 3 years of professional childcare experience Experience as a family assistant/household manager High school diploma At least 21 years of age Valid driver's license Clean driving record Passport ready Reliable and insured vehicle Authorized to work in the U.S. Strong tutoring skills in various subjects Schedule The schedule is part-time, guaranteeing 30 hours per week. The general schedule will fall on Monday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The candidate must be willing to work on Sunday 1 to 2 times per month from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. While these hours are generally typical for the week, flexibility to adapt to the family's schedule is essential. Additionally, the family may request extra hours on certain weeks. Compensation The family is offering $30-$35/hour based on 30 hours per week which equates to $900-$1,050/week, and an anticipated annual base income of $46K-$54k+/year. This position is paid legally, on a W-2, subject to regular deductions and withholdings as required by law. Benefits The family is providing 10 days of paid vacation (5 of which should overlap with one of the family's annual vacations), 5 paid sick days, paid major holidays, a $300 per month healthcare stipend, and mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate for on-the-job travel. Start Date This position starts on August 26, 2024 - Apply today! Additional Notes At this stage, we cannot provide any additional information about this position other than what has already been provided in the job description. Due to the high volume of candidates, we will only contact you if the family is interested in meeting you or if we need additional information.
