Job Title: Parent Educator - HOPES Reports To: Program Supervisor School/Program: Lumin Education Lindsley Park Community School Hours/Status: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, 250-day year Salary Range: $33,000-$35,000 Summary: The Parent Educator works with families and their children from prenatal to 3 years old using skills in partnering, facilitating and reflecting with parents. Parent educators provide parent education and family support to enhance the quality of parenting, increase a parent's understanding of child development and work with parents to help their child learn, grow and develop to meet their full potential. This position must be knowledgeable of child development, parenting techniques, community resources, cultural competence and confidentiality. Parent Educators work in the families' homes to assist parents in understanding the development of their child and approaches to behavior management. Fluency in Spanish a plus. Available to meet with families on evenings and weekends, as needed. Responsibilities and Duties: Complies with policies, procedures and guidelines as set by Lumin Education, Parents As Teachers National Center (PATNC), and Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support (HOPES). Maintains confidentiality. Provides personal visits to families on caseload using PAT Curriculum and the Montessori approach. Maintains accurate computer and paper documentation as required. Completes required number of visits/screenings for families as determined by HOPES and PATNC program guidelines. Participates in all staff meetings. Participates in reflective supervision meetings and develops a Professional Growth Plan based upon core competency self-assessment. Helps plan and execute group connections as assigned. Notifies all assigned families of upcoming group connections. Cooperates, communicates and seeks assistance from other professional staff members. Communicates regularly with parents by means of phone calls, text, e-mail and virtually. Promotes parent participation and involvement in educational activities provided for their children and actively recruits families to participate in the program. Available to meet with families on evenings and weekends, as needed. Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor Education/Experience: Have a minimum of an associate's degree, required for all new hires beginning 5/30/21. Fluent in Spanish a plus. Be an organized, independent and self-motivated worker, with unquestionable integrity. Be able to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths. Demonstrated competency utilizing email, basic data entry and word processing. Personal, licensed and insured reliable transportation is necessary to provide home visits throughout the programs' service area. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must complete required training from the Parents as Teacher National Institute. Every year after initial training, Parent Educator must annually complete required professional development hours in order to remain a certified Parents as Teachers parent educator. Infant CPR and First Aid required. Training can be sponsored if needed. EXPERIENCE: Professional experience working with young children and their families is recommended.
