Our classroom aides love children. The substitute will fill in for employees who need to be off. Candidates must be 18 years of age. Some absences may be prearranged, but most will be scheduled at the last minute. The substitute must agree to support the preschool's faith statement. This position will assist the classroom teacher with all classroom responsibilities - including set up and take down of activities throughout the day and at the end of the day, supervision of students, cleaning the classroom & toys, cutting, copying and laminating, assisting with record keeping, modeling appropriate behavior for students and substituting for the teacher in her absence. The ideal person would have high energy, understand child development, be able to view things from a positive point of view, and be dependable. The substitute could be called to sub in the 2-year-old, 3-year-old, or the 4-year-old class and could also substitute in our lunch room. The day is busy and fast paced. You will work to manage classroom behavior and follow the daily routine, in order to allow the teacher to conduct lessons. You will be expected to build rapport and trust with the students that you serve. Your job will be essential to the classroom operation. If you enjoy the sweetness of children, but don't want the commitment of working every day, this would be a good fit for you. The schedule is ideal for a mother of school aged children. Our school is closed for holidays and operates from September through May, so you would have your summers off.
