RELATIONAL Show the love of Jesus in thought, word and deed and teach the children about His love. Support Messiah Lutheran Church and School's whole child philosophy. Show enthusiasm in working with young children. Relate to children and facilitate their growth and development. Accept each child as a unique child of God. Demonstrate Christian compassion, empathy and tact for children, families, and co-workers. Respect confidentiality of children, families, staff, and Center within and outside of the work environment. MEETING NEEDS OF CHILDREN Maintain published Oklahoma DHS Teacher/Child Ratios to ensure the safety of each child at all times. Help serve and clean-up snacks and lunch. Help supervise arrival and dismissal of children, admitting families to the building, recording arrival time on roll call sheet and each child's daily sheet. Assist in toileting and diapering of children. Help setting up mats for rest time and supervising children at nap. Maintain cleanliness of all classrooms and hallways. Assist in completing Daily Sheets and sending them home with children each day. Administer First Aid and/or respond appropriately in emergency situations. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher. MEETING NEEDS OF STAFF Assist teachers as needed. Step in and substitute when teacher is absent or must leave the room. Work as a team member with other staff under the direction of the classroom teacher and Director PERSONAL Maintain a professional personal appearance, which is neat and suitable for working with young children. Is flexible and adaptable to change. Is prompt, punctual and dependable. Takes initiative in demanding situations. Have good interpersonal skills. Is loving, welcoming, and approachable. Is able to stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, stretch and lift and/or carry a child weighing up to 35 pounds. Attend staff meetings and participate and assist in all scheduled functions of Messiah Early Childhood Center (i. e. Open House, National Lutheran Schools Week, Parent meetings and programs, etc.).
