After School Program Assistant Director
Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as After School Assistant Director. This role is essential in providing a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth and possess skills in childcare and education. As part of our program, staff will facilitate various activities that promote learning and development while ensuring the well-being of all participants.
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Director plans, coordinates, and implements a daily program offering a range of developmental experiences for Pre-K through 5th-grade children. This role supports the Program Director in managing activities, supervising staff, fostering community relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulations and program guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
Program Development and Management
Assist in planning and implementing educational, recreational, and social activities that meet the needs of children in Pre-K through 5th grade.
Coordinate the purchasing of supplies and snacks aligned with planned activities, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines.
Provide children with appropriate supervision at all times.
Serve as Acting Director in the Program Director's absence.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
Support the Program Director in fostering a team-oriented environment among staff.
Develop a sense of community and inclusion among children.
Act as a role model and effective team member while serving as a leader for staff and children.
Family and Community Engagement
Assist in fostering clear communication and partnerships with parents.
Develop relationships with school faculty to support the educational needs of children.
Compliance and Training
Follow New York State OCFS regulations and program guidelines for group and individual children.
Complete at least 15 hours of OCFS-required training annually.
Fulfill the OCFS-required 15-hour Director Training.
Other Responsibilities
Assist with various managerial tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old.
Possess at least one year of experience in child care or related programs.
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Have a CDA/SACC credential or a degree/certification in a related field that meets New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.
Complete the OCFS 6000 packet, fingerprinting, and all necessary clearances before the first day of employment.
Provide documentation of a current physical examination and TB test as part of the 6000 packet.
Anticipated Schedule
The Assistant Director position is part-time during the school year (September - June) and transitions to full-time during the summer program. The TASP Summer Program runs for 6 consecutive weeks during the summer months and the Assistant Director is expected to work 40 hours during this time.
The expected working hours are as follows
School-Year Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM-6:00 PM
Summer Program Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-5:30 PM
