A family on the Upper East Side is seeking a reliable, long-term, live-out nanny to care for their two children, an 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. The position is Monday through Friday, 3-7 PM, with occasional flexibility to stay late as needed. The family is looking for someone who is committed and dependable. Ideally, they would like someone to start as soon as possible.
The children attend different schools on opposite sides of Manhattan and have distinct personalities and activity schedules. The mom is a stay-at-home mom who is looking for someone to help her balance the needs of both children. Responsibilities include school pick-up, taking the kids to after-school activities, arranging playdates, supervising/assisting with homework, and preparing light meals. Minimal light housekeeping, such as cleaning up after dinner, is also required. While the ability to drive or swim would be a bonus, these are not deal-breakers. Experience in education or working with children in an academic setting is highly preferred to help support the kids with homework. The family has a summer home about 1 hour outside of the city, and may require assistance there during the summer, though this hasn't been confirmed yet.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, college-educated, and comfortable working alongside the mom when she is home. They want someone who is down-to-earth, flexible, and comfortable engaging with two very different yet equally wonderful children.
