We're seeking a paid caregiver (Direct Support Professional) to work 1-on-1 with our daughter, a 9-year-old girl with mild intellectual disability and cerebral palsy. She is a happy, affectionate, and energetic child who loves imaginative play, swimming, Legos, and animals. She is highly social, enjoys being active, and thrives on routine and engagement. She needs a compassionate, patient caregiver to support her in daily activities at home and in the community while promoting life skills, independence, and safety. Responsibilities: Provide care, encouragement, and companionship to a child with special needs. Supervise at home, in the community, and during recreational activities. Transport to activities like swimming, Special Olympics, and therapeutic riding. Support with personal care routines (dressing, hygiene, toileting reminders). Assist with household tasks like meal preparation, tidying up, and organizing activities. Promote safe movement, street safety, and water safety awareness. Encourage social interactions, playdates, and participation in community programs. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation required. Experience with children with developmental disabilities preferred. Ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and provide consistent support.
