I am new to care. com, and there are a few different options that I would like to look into in order to provide care for my 6-month-old son. For background, I am a physician, and my work varies significantly. I may work 2 weeks in a row 7a-5p, then have a whole week off, followed by a week where I work only 1-2 day shifts. Here are my options: 1. Hire a part time nanny that would have flexibility in covering days when I am working. It would come out to an average of 25-30 hours per week. If able, would love to have some evening help 1-2 times per week. 2. Send my son to daycare, but have a recurring sitter who could be available for backup on days when my husband is out of town , and my son is sick or daycare closes with short notice. Would also use this sitter 2 evenings per week, 8 hours guaranteed per week.
