Our son is 8 years old and has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is verbal and can communicate like a typical child his age. He needs a flexible caregiver who can give him one on one attention as well as allow him to play safely on his own. His favorite toys are dinosaurs and cars. We believe he has a specific autistic profile known as PDA (pathological demand avoidance) which has led to behavioral issues that make it difficult for him to thrive in group settings with constant demands like a typical public school. However he HAS been able to thrive at home with individual attention.
