About the job

Schedule: 4 weekdays, either daytime 8 AM-4 PM (occasionally as early as 6 AM) or later day/evening shifts ending as late as 11:30 PM (typically 1-2 times a week) Description: A warm and loving family in N. Raleigh is looking for an experienced, patient nanny to help care for their 6-week-old baby boy. He's adorable, snuggly, and currently going through a tough colicky phase, which means he needs a lot of holding, soothing, and love throughout the day. Mom is currently home on maternity leave, and this role is really about providing extra support during this challenging newborn stage for now. She's in survival mode and will soon be back to work, so she needs the extra support now and hopes to work with the agency (or their temp nanny) to figure out their needs once she gets settled back at work. They are hoping to find someone who feels comfortable stepping in to care for him with kindness and patience, while also understanding that sometimes babies just need to be held (a lot!). Both parents work in healthcare with rotating schedules - days, evenings, overnights, and weekends - so flexibility is a huge plus, though the primary need is during daytime hours for now. The Schedule: Typically 4 days per week (occasionally up to 5 depending on the week) 2-3 days a week, the schedule will typically be 8 AM-4 PM, with the possibility of as early as a 6 AM shift here and there. 1-2 days will start later and end as late as 11:30 PM each week, depending on dad's work schedule. Rare overnight help would be a bonus, but not required Guaranteed 25-30 hours per week, depending on the nanny's preference Schedules are provided ~3 months in advance, though they do change week to week due to their work in healthcare. Responsibilities: Providing nurturing, attentive care to the family's newborn son - holding, soothing, and supporting him through colic and fussiness Washing pump parts and baby bottles, restocking nursery items, and light tidying (if there is a bit of downtime and he starts napping more on his own) Offering gentle suggestions or tips when asked, but above all, being a warm, encouraging, non-judgmental support to mom during this season They want a calm, compassionate presence who can help them navigate this challenging phase with patience. Requirements: Infant care experience required - experience with colicky or fussy babies is a huge plus. Patient, nurturing, calm personality Comfortable wearing a mask in our home (required while the baby is so young, not long-term) Comfortable with pets in the home (we have a dog and cats - no pet care needed) Reliable, flexible, and communicative Reliable transportation to get to and from work Excellent References Non-Smoker Compensation & Benefits: Guaranteed 25-30 hours/week Initial 3-month contract with potential to extend or move into a longer-term position as the schedule settles A kind, respectful family who will appreciate and value your expertise and presence during a tender and challenging season If you are a nurturing, patient nanny who loves caring for newborns (especially those who need a little extra TLC), we would love to hear from you!
