Are you an infant guru who adores the sweet and snuggly stage but also enjoys switching gears to engage with the lively Preschool age for part of the day? If so, we have the perfect role for you! This dual-physician household in Durham hopes to welcome a kind, fun-loving, and engaging nanny as soon as possible. Their oldest is 3 and loves arts and crafts, reading, and imaginative play. She attends half-day preschool Monday-Friday and thrives with the structure at school. Their youngest is currently 6 weeks and is truly a bundle of joy! She is a very happy and calm baby, but experiences reflux at times. An ideal nanny would be confident with their knowledge of safe sleep practices and sleep training, and baby led weaning for when the baby gets a bit older. The family practices gentle parenting and hopes to find a nanny who desires to partner with them to raise kind and loving little ones. They also have a mini golden doodle who may need to be let outside from time to time, but otherwise will be in the home and would love some attention here and there.
The day will typically begin with making breakfast and getting the children ready for their day. After that, you may spend time reading or playing with the girls before heading out the door for preschool drop-off. While it's just nanny and baby, it would be a great time to incorporate developmentally appropriate activities (Hello, tummy time!). Preschool pickup sneaks up fairly quickly, and once you are all home, it's time for lunch! Their oldest typically takes a long afternoon nap from 1:00 - 3:30 most days. To wrap up the day, you may spend time taking a walk in the neighborhood, playing at the playground, or creating a beautiful arts and crafts project!
Outside of caring for the children, they will ask for help with child-related laundry, preparing breakfast and lunch, and cleaning up afterward, unloading and loading the dishwasher, cleaning bottles, and generally keeping the play areas tidy. A nanny who would be willing to take the family dog on a walk while out and about would be a major plus! The nanny should be comfortable transporting the oldest to and from preschool.
As a dual-physician household, they value reliability, communication, and flexibility. The typical work hours will fall between 6:30 am-5 pm Monday-Friday. Most weeks, they will round out at 40 hours. However, the family needs flexibility for the nanny to work up to 50 hours a week on rare occasions and will pay for a minimum of 40 hours each week, even when the nanny works fewer hours. They are looking for a nanny who is interested in being with their family for the long haul, ideally several years!
