If you are an energetic, organized, go-getter, we have the perfect position for you! A loving and tightly connected family of four in Durham is seeking an education-oriented and resilient nanny for their cheerful 5-year-old daughter. Their daughter has a rare mitochondrial disorder that has delayed her development. Despite this, she is an extraordinary child who loves to explore the outdoors, go to parks, enjoy all types of food, and be read to. They also have a sweet 4-month-old. He spends his days with his grandparents, either at the family's home or at grandma's house. You may interact with him occasionally, but you won't have any care responsibilities for him. Both parents work from home but hope for a self-sufficient nanny who can manage the day independently. They are a liberal, Christian family who are raising their children to value kindness and open-mindedness. Their daughter is primarily non-verbal but is excellent at communicating her needs and wants with actions and an iPad-based communication program. Someone who isn't easily phased by her wanting her way from time to time or preferring things to be a certain way would be best. She enjoys going to weekly swimming classes and has an amazing team of specialists she regularly visits. An organized nanny who can keep on top of the calendar is helpful. A nanny who is experienced in supporting an exceptional child is a must-have for this role. If you have worked in the school system, as an ABA therapist, or as a preschool teacher with children who have additional needs, this family would love to meet you! Due to her genetic condition, she has motor delays that impact her speech, feeding, and fine, and gross motor development and is not yet potty trained. She has a G-Tube to support her food intake, however, no experience with that is necessary! The family will support you until you feel 100% comfortable with this task. A typical day will include, beginning the day at preschool! Their daughter attends preschool Monday-Thursday from 9 AM -12:50 PM and the nanny would join her as her personal aide, allowing her to be part of a neurotypical classroom of 4-year-olds. After school, you are welcome to go explore local parks, and museums or head home for a bit of rest time. While their daughter rests, the family would appreciate tidying up any areas used and cleaning up dishes and medical supplies. However, once that is completed you are welcome to take a break and enjoy a little downtime. The ideal schedule would be 8 AM-5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with very minimal variation. Mom and Dad both work from home several days a week on a separate level of the home, and Grandma and little brother may be there occasionally as well. So a nanny who is comfortable with this dynamic is a must! The family hopes to have a nanny join their family long-term, with the option of moving into the public school setting in 1-2 years when she begins attending. What they can offer their nanny: -Guaranteed Hours with Guaranteed Overtime -2 weeks of paid vacation and paid holidays -The opportunity to join a family that will feed into your well-being and show their appreciation for all you do! -A loving, fierce, and determined little girl who will become your best friend Their Ideal Nanny Has/Is: -Experience with Exceptional children (ABA therapy, Preschool/Montessori settings, etc.) -3+ years of experience -Ability to lift 38+ lbs -Excellent references -CPR/First Aid Certification -COVID & Flu, and Tdap (up to date on COVID booster + annual flu vaccine) -Clean Driving Record & Reliable Vehicle -Ability to Commit Long-Term -Non-Smoker
