This role is ideal for a proactive and energetic candidate who will provide structured support for two wonderful children, ages 9 and 6.5, while also assisting with household management. The base weekly schedule is Monday-Friday, with a guaranteed 40 hours per week, with flexibility needed to accommodate the parent's fluctuating work schedule. Your Responsibilities: -Childcare & Activity Planning: Engage the children with interactive activities such as baking, crafts, outdoor play, bike rides, and playdates. Encourage and support their academic success by helping with school assignments and practicing skills like reading and speech exercises. - Household Management: Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, errands, and meal preparation. Organize children's spaces, assist with keeping the kitchen and common areas tidy, and ensure a smooth daily routine for the family. - Transportation & Scheduling: Support the children's activities by coordinating and driving them to extracurriculars, playdates, and school-related events. A family vehicle is provided for on-the-job use. - Pet Care: Help with occasional dog-related tasks, including transporting the family's friendly 1-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer to and from doggie daycare. - Flexible Scheduling & Reliability: The parent's work schedule includes varied shifts, including early mornings and late nights. Coverage may include early mornings (5 AM earliest start time), afternoons, evenings (as late as 2 AM), and day shifts without any childcare (8am to 2pm). Most shifts will be a minimum of 6 hours and maximum of 12 hours in length. Additional availability MAY be needed in the future for occasional weekend shifts, overnights, and holidays, and you will always have your schedule at least 3 weeks in advance so you can plan ahead. In a typical week, 50% of the Family Assistant's time will be spent in the home working on household tasks without children present, and 50% will be spent providing childcare for the children. Who We're Looking For: - Experience: You have at least three years of professional childcare experience working in private homes as a Nanny or Family Assistant. Experience with school-age children and an understanding of childhood development is highly valued. - Skills: You are highly organized, proactive, and able to take initiative in planning activities and maintaining household routines. You can engage children in learning and play while balancing family support responsibilities. - Personality: You are warm, patient, and energetic. You love to be hands-on, engaging children in structured activities, supporting their independence, and being a positive role model. - Professionalism: You are punctual, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of care. You have excellent communication skills and the ability to provide updates on the children's activities, behavior, and any relevant household needs. - Health & Activity Level: The family values an active lifestyle and hopes to find a candidate who enjoys outdoor activities, swimming, and active play.
