Position Overview:
Michigan Nanny Solutions is thrilled to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Nanny to join a loving family in Grand Rapids. This position focuses on nurturing and engaging care for two young boys, who will be almost-2-years-old and 6-months-old when nanny starts, with a schedule of 40 guaranteed hours per week: Monday-Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, to start on Monday, March 3rd, 2025.
This long-term role is ideal for a professional nanny who is passionate about creating enriching experiences for young children while supporting their growth and development over a multi-year commitment to the family!
Why You'll Love This Role:
Family-Centered Collaborative Care: Work with a family that values kindness, collaboration, and open communication. You'll be a key partner in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for their two sons while the parents work from their home offices. As a valuable member of the parenting team, you will help encourage the boys' physical development, verbal development, social development, and early education through intentional learning-through-play (the family will provide access to a play-based daily toddler curriculum to use) and daily outside playtime and outings.
Daily Adventures: Spend your days with the boys playing outdoors and adventuring with them on fun outings to places like the zoo, libraries, and nature centers. The family highly values exploration as part of their children's early education and social development, and they will welcome your input to establish a weekly schedule of daily outings following a predictable routine. They look forward to having a collaborative partner in ensuring their boys' childhoods are filled with lots of love, daily active outdoor play time, and weekly enriching experiences in and around their community.
Long-Term Stability & Life-Long Bonds: The family is seeking a nanny committed to building a lasting relationship with their children for years to come . . . and they know first-hand how influential their nanny will be on their sons' identity and character development during these formative years! Both parents had long-term nannies as children who became cherished members of their family, with close, loving relationships that have lasted (and blessed them!) their entire lives. They hope to hire a nanny who is seeking a multi-year commitment to their full-time role and are eager to give their boys' the gift of a nanny who loves them as deeply and dearly as their own nannies loved them!
Your Responsibilities:
Intentional Supportive Childcare: Your primary role and top priority will be to provide attentive, loving care to the boys, tailoring activities and daily playtime to their developmental needs. You'll assist the toddler with early learning and motor skills, while encouraging exploration and supporting the infant through key milestones. The family uses American Sign Language to communicate with the toddler and encourage his verbal development, and they hope to hire a nanny who enjoys using and teaching ASL as part of their practice with infants and toddlers. Previous experience and a wide vocabulary of ASL signs will be a huge benefit to the family!
Educational Engagement: Influence the boys' early education by focusing on exposure, exploration, and experiences! You'll get to teach-through-play by engaging the boys with intentional playtime, including activities like imaginative play, reading aloud, sensory play and exploration, with the assistance of a simple theme-based play curriculum (the parents will provide nanny with access to the "Busy Toddler" Playing Preschool program they use). Encourage the boys' social development by planning daily outings and excursions, with the freedom to seek out new and unique enriching experiences throughout your time with the family!
Outdoor Exploration: If you describe yourself as happiest when you are outdoors, you will find kindred souls in these two boys! You will get to take the boys outdoors daily for active playtime and exploration, no matter the weather, and will be encouraged to engage the children in nature walks, visits to local parks, splash pads, zoo trips, nature centers, and any other age-appropriate outdoor activities available from season to season.
Light Housekeeping: Your daily focus and priority is engaging with the children, but the parents would like your help with basic child-related tasks such as preparing meals and snacks for the boys, organizing toys, washing children's dishes and wiping down after meals, and keeping their bedrooms and play areas tidy, with the encouragement to include the boys' in these tasks as their age and development allows.
Communication: You will collaborate with parents to provide the very best possible care for their children, with ongoing conversations and updates on the children's progress, setting goals together for their education and development, maintaining open communication about their current needs, anticipating and providing advice and support for future transitions, and working toward (and celebrating!) all the boys' milestones together.
Who We're Looking For:
Experience: You have at least three years of professional childcare experience, with expertise in early childhood development and caring for infants and toddlers. Preference will be given to candidates who have many years of experience a professional nanny, ideally growing with the same families over multi-year commitments.
Skills: You are proactive, adaptable, organized, and a strong communicator. You excel at fostering a learning environment through play and exploration and are adept at identifying new areas to work on with each of the boys as they grow, learn, and develop. You prioritize a collaborative partnership with the parents and value ongoing conversations with employers to support the children you work with through each new age and stage of development.
Personality: You are naturally maternal, warm, patient, and nurturing. You are excited to form a meaningful close-as-family bond with the children and their parents, and will find personal and professional joy in being able to contribute to their growth as individuals and a family unit through your long-term support and encouragement.
Professionalism: You pride yourself on being reliable, dependable, and flexible, and are committed to maintaining open, honest, and ongoing communication with the family.
Perks and Benefits:
Competitive Pay: Earn $23-$26 per hour, with an additional health or educational stipend provided annually. Paid time off, paid sick days, paid holidays, and other standard nanny benefits are included.
Consistent Schedule: Enjoy a predictable workweek with guaranteed hours and a long-term, multi-year commitment.
Supportive Environment: Work with a family that appreciates collaboration and empowers you to thrive in your role.
