I am currently a stay at home mom and believe in a more Montessori style in raising our almost 2-year-old. I love to let him lead in activities that will not harm him or others, but otherwise - go buck wild, little guy. I love to let him explore small and acceptable action/consequence scenarios, because my thought is, if its a mess that can be cleaned up but he learned something? What teaching moments that provided. All within range, of course. He is a toddler, he does test boundaries and expects me to hold them. And I do my best - as we all do. I try hard to do a compassionate but firm parenting approach; holding boundaries when theyre appropriate but kneeling down and speaking to him on his level, lots of hugs and acknowledgement of feelings to help him learn to regulate. We want him to just have fun, learning and playing.
