I have a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old that I would honestly be comfortable leaving by themselves for short stretches, but my sister-in-law lives with us and feels like she has to babysit if she is at the house alone with the kids. Basically I just need someone here so she doesn't complain that I made her babysit. Typically, the kids will make themselves dinner and do their own thing. You can watch TV and work on your own projects.
