Job Description
Job Title: Childcare Worker
Function: The Childcare Worker provides a safe, enriching environment where children experience God's love, following the direction of the Nursery Coordinator and the Deacon and Director of Christian Education and Justice Ministries.
Hours: Part time (3-7 hours per week) including but not limited to:
Sunday mornings
Wednesday evenings
Christmas, Easter/Holy Week and holiday weekends as scheduled
Other special events as scheduled
Time as appropriate to fulfill the requirements of the position
Compensation: Hourly, Variable, Non-Exempt, starting at $10. 50/hour
Reports to: Nursery Coordinator
Responsibilities:
Implement structured, age-appropriate lessons about God and God's Love in the nursery during Sunday school, Sunday worship hours, and Wednesday Night Programming.
Supervise free playtime in the nursery setting.
Provide interactions that develop infants and children socially and emotionally.
Assist with cleaning nursery space after children have left for the day and an annual deep cleaning of the nursery.
When children are not present during a shift, organize and clean, as assigned by Nursery Coordinator.
Comply with the nursery handbook and Safe Gatherings policy and guidelines.
Attend annual training for all Childcare Staff.
Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Demonstrable knowledge and experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 14 years.
Willing to develop new skills, and exhibit initiative to learn new skills.
Exhibit strong communication skills.
Capacity to cultivate positive, cooperative relationships with families.
Maintain an amiable relationship with the pastors, staff and congregation.
Constructively and appropriately manage conflict situations.
Support and affirm the Mission and Welcoming Statement of Calvary UMC as it relates to the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ persons.
