About the job
Our baby will be 9 months old when the job starts. She has spina bifida and a VP shunt due to hydrocephalus. She is a very happy baby with a social personality and loves to play. We like to keep her play as fun yet educational as possible. She also has physical and occupational therapy that we incorporate in to her playtime. We limit screens (rarely have the tv on when she is in the room). She loves to have books read to her and she is very curious of the world around her. She loves "talking" and is incredibly interactive. She is a very special kid and just a joy to be around - hardly fusses (unless she is hungry or tired) and just loves to be loved! Our baby has a VP shunt due to hydrocephalus in conjunction with spina bifida. Knowledge in these two areas is a huge plus, as she has various therapies that we incorporate throughout her day. Her spina bifida was repaired in utero in order to increase her chances of being able to walk on her own when that time comes. Because of this, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude who can be encouraging and who is not afraid to assist in her therapies. We want our child's nanny to be involved in her care and to be there to cheer her on along with us. We're looking for someone who has a loving and encouraging nature and who might have some knowledge (or be willing to learn) about spina bifida and VP shunts. We are raising our daughter in such a way that her disability does not define her, but it is part of her. She is in therapy (and doing incredibly well) in order to help her walk some day. We do not appreciate pity or an attitude that would make our daughter feel like her spina bifida will hold her back. Instead, we want her spending her time with someone who will treat her as they would any other typical child and who will always be encouraging of her and the things she wants to do - even though some things may look different for her than for other children. We have free street parking We do have one dog. Our nanny will not be responsible for him.
