job description child care director caterpillar care, corporation is concerned with the safety, love, and learning of all children. the center is focused on the care and educational needs of children ages (6) weeks of age - (35) months of age. the center offers year round day care monday - friday, 6:00 am c.s.t. - 6:00 pm c.s.t. position description this position is a full time salaried position, responsible for working under the direct supervision of the school's opening director to administer the day to day operations of caterpillar care, corporation. essential duties administration assures compliance of licensing, health and safety regulation. ensures compliance with usda regulations and reporting requirements. coordinates with opening director regarding hiring, training, evaluating and terminating staff. develops training plans for the program staff. schedules staff. arranges for subs in advance when possible. plans monthly training and weekly planning meetings. develops and inventories a listing of all caterpillar care equipment and supplies. coordinates with staff to assure that the children enrolled and their families receive services from other agencies as needed. performs all other duties necessary to advance the philosophy and goals of the program and caterpillar care as deemed necessary by the company. human relations oversees recruitment of potential clients. provides orientation for new families. develops and maintains effective relationships with families. creates meaningful roles and opportunities for parents to be involved with the program that build on existing skills and develop parenting techniques. prepares and submits reports in a timely manner. communicates effectively through parent handbooks, newsletters and correspondence with families. ensures procedures that maintain strict confidentiality of family records. prepares and maintains children's records. maintains staff handbook, parent handbook, and staff files. coordinates contact information and communications with potential family clients. supervision supervises and trains support staff and substitutes. resolves day to day problems relating to staff, facilities and requisitions. provides new staff orientation. oversees teacher interaction with the children. acts as a model in appearance, speech and conduct, using eye-to-eye contact. education requirements all new child care directors hired on or after july 01st, 2017 shall have a minimum of an associate's degree in child development or early childhood education, or the equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education, or early childhood special education) and either a gateways to opportunity level one illinois director credential (see 89 illinois administration code 50.720(b) or 3 semester hours of college credit or 3 points of credential approved training in administration, leadership, or management. o first aid & cpr certified, with the aed component. o food service manger certified. staff shall be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child's physical, intellectual, personal, emotional, and social development. factors contributing to the attainment of this standard include: emotional maturity when working with children. cooperation with the purposes and services of the program. respect for children and adults. flexibility, understanding and patience. physical and mental health that do not interfere with child care responsibilities. good personal hygiene. frequent interaction with children. listening skills, availability and responsiveness to children. sensitivity to children's socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities. use of positive discipline and guidance techniques, and... ability to provide an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play, recreation and other activities. child care staff, shall generally demonstrate skill and competence necessary to assume direct responsibility for child care including: skills to help children meet their developmental and emotional needs, and... skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that meet the children's basic needs. child care staff shall be willing to participate in activities leading to professional growth in child development and education, and in training related to the specific needs of the children served. ccc | careers | job description | director | v08.21.2019
