A warm and active family in Delray Beach is seeking a highly capable, caring, and long-term nanny to support their soon-to-arrive newborn, as well as occasionally assist with two older children (in school full time). The position will initially focus on "mother's helper" tasks-helping around the house, organizing items, and handling light chores-then transition to a more childcare-focused role once Mom returns to work.
If you're an experienced caregiver who loves newborns, has a reliable vehicle, and enjoys keeping a household running smoothly, this might be the perfect fit!
Position Details
Location: Delray Beach, FL
Start Date: July/August 2025 (flexible for the right candidate, potential earlier "mother's helper" support)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (40+ hours/week)
Compensation: $24-$30/hr (DOE)
Commitment: Ideally 2-3 years
Household Assistance: Light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, vacuuming), meal prep, and errands (including school pickups)
Benefits: Potential guaranteed hours, paid holidays, structured PTO/contract, and more (to be discussed)
Children
Newborn: Arriving mid-July! This will be your primary focus once Mom returns to work.
Two Older Children (School-Aged): Both attend school full time. You'll pitch in when they're home sick, on teacher workdays, or if they need rides to extracurriculars/appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
Mother's Helper Phase (Pre-Return-to-Work)
- Light Housekeeping: Laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and general tidying.
- Organizing & Purging: Assist in decluttering and organizing baby items the family no longer needs.
- Meal Prep: Prepare snacks and simple meals for the older kids and collaborate on dinner planning (e.g., Home Chef meals).
- Household Errands: Run small errands, restock household goods, and let parents know when items are running low.
Nanny & Childcare Duties (Post-Maternity Leave)
- Infant Care: Diapering, feeding, soothing, and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule.
- Older Children: Step in when they're home from school, offering support for after-school routines, appointments, and occasional extracurricular activities.
- Meal Prep: Prepare healthy, kid-friendly meals and continue helping with dinner planning if possible.
- School Runs: Drive children to/from school or doctor's appointments using a reliable vehicle with a clean driving record.
Safety & Engagement
- Maintain a safe environment-indoors and outdoors-and encourage active, outdoor play.
- Model kindness, patience, and mindful problem-solving.
- Confidently supervise multiple children as needed.
Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate with parents on schedules and routines, ensuring smooth daily transitions.
- Provide regular updates on children's progress, household tasks, or any concerns.
- Maintain a professional, respectful relationship-offering suggestions yet valuing feedback.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience: 5+ years of nanny experience, including newborn care. Comfortable juggling older children when necessary.
- Household Skills: Effective at light housekeeping, laundry/wardrobe management, meal prep, and running errands independently.
- Driving & Transportation: Must have a reliable car and a safe driving record for school pickups, appointments, and extracurricular activities.
- Personality & Approach: Proactive, empathetic, and a self-starter-someone who doesn't need constant guidance.
- Reliability & Commitment: Seeking a 2-3 year placement to support the family through the newborn years and beyond.
- Additional Skills: CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain). Comfort with mindful activities, plus any background in teaching or creative arts is a bonus.
Why You'll Love This Job
- Grow with the Family: Bond with a brand-new baby while also supporting older siblings on occasion.
- Balanced Role Transition: Begin as a mother's helper-tackling household tasks-then shift to full-time infant care once Mom is back at work.
- Respect & Fairness: Enjoy a structured contract with guaranteed hours, paid time off, and clear communication around expectations.
- Active, Outdoor Lifestyle: If you love sunshine, going on walks, and supporting children through enrichment activities, you'll thrive here!
